Continuous Flow Analysis (CFA) Software Module

The EOS Instruments CFA software add-on is the perfect solution for Continuous Flow Analysis of particles in fluids. It enables the SPES measurements for the time-resolved classification of particles suspended in flowing fluids with a time resolution of one second, giving a high-resolution, multiparametric analysis based on single particle optical properties. This feature is especially valuable for the analysis of heterogeneous fluids and complex systems of industrial, biological, and environmental interest where surrounding particles prevent an effective analysis via traditional methods.

Classizer™ ONE is ready to be coupled to traditional in-line methods such as Field-Flow Fractionation (FFF), UV-Vis sensors, small pilot lines and for aerosol monitoring. Precise time windows can be selected for detailed offline analysis of particle characteristics and concentration transitions within individual particle populations.

EOS CLOUDS of a CFA run of a time-varying mix of two kind of particles, 600 nm polystyrene (PS) 600 nm and PMMA spheres.
The Classizer™ ONE detects two distinct particle clouds with clearly different optical properties.

Via the software the two populations can easily be selected, and their size, PSD and refractive index values can be retrieved and plotted, like in the graphs on the left.

By isolating the individual populations, the software reveals how their concentrations change over time: the PS population (dark blue) gradually decreases, while the PMMA population (red) increases, with the total particle concentration (black line) remaining constant throughout the run.
